Comedian Jerry Stiller Passes Away at the Age of 92

Comedian, actor and author Jerry Stiller died from natural causes at the age of 92, it was confirmed. He is best known for being the father of Ben Stiller. Together, the pair gained early exposure as comedy duo Stiller And Meara – gaining regular appearances during the 1960s and 1970s on The Ed Sullivan Show. Yet he remains well known for his appearance as Frank Costanza in Seinfeld where he received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 1997, as well as winning the American Comedy Award for Funniest Male Guest Appearance in a TV Series.

Before moving on to play Arthur Spooner on The King of Queens, Stiller was best known for being starring as George Costanzas’ father Frank on Seinfeld. He also delivered unforgettable turns alongside Ben Stiller in movies like Heavyweights, The Heartbreak Kid and both of the Zoolander series. During World War Two, Stiller, who was born in New York in 1927, served in the U.S. Army before marrying comedian Anne Meara in 1953.

Together, the pair gained early exposure as comedy duo Stiller And Meara. He gaining regular appearances during the 1960s and 1970s on The Ed Sullivan Show. Yet he remains well known for his appearance as Frank Costanza in Seinfeld. It is where he received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 1997. From 1993-1998 he portrayed Costanza in the Jerry Seinfeld sitcom. It is before from 1998-2007 teaming up with Kevin James on The King of Queens. He’d been married to Meara until her 2015 death.
