Emmy Awards 2019: GOT Wins the Best Drama Award

It’s a star-studded night in LA as the Emmys 2019 took place. Undoubtedly one of the year’s most awaited awards, the 71st Emmy Awards was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles honoring the finest of television. A few weeks earlier, the Emmy nominations were announced to disclose that the largest nominations were bagged by Game of Thrones cast. The HBO series was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series with over 32 nods. In addition to GoT, 20 and 19 nominations were bagged by The Marvelous MrsMaisel and Chernobyl, respectively.

It was a great night for the actress-writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who won both Best Actress-Comedy and Best Writing-Comedy for her tour de force show Fleabag.

Fleabag has also earned the Best Comedy Series and Best Director-Comedy. Peter Dinklage received the Best Supporting Actor-Drama for his role as TyrionLannister at the Game Of Thrones, with a total 32 nominations this year, 10 of which were already awarded at the previous Technical Awards. Jodie Comer of Killing Eve earned Best Actress-Drama.

Bill Hader received Best Actor-Comedy for his part in Barry; Tony Shalhoub and Alex Borstein brought back Best Supporting Actor-Comedy and Best Supporting Actress-Comedy for their positions in The Wonderful MrsMaisel. Chernobyl received three prizes in the classification of the Limited Series. Saturday Night Live received the Best Variety Sketch Series and last week John Oliver received the Best Variety Talk Show.
