Twitter Inc said earlier this year on Wednesday it will test new features that would enable users to control who can respond to their tweets, as it seems to limit abuse and harassment on the platform.
Social media companies are under pressure to tackle abuse on their pages, which often happens in unsolicited comments targeting women and minorities, and since 2018 Twitter Inc Chief Executive Jack Dorsey has vowed to increase public dialogue “health.”
“We want to help people feel safe participating in the conversation on Twitter by giving them more control over the conversations they start,” the San Francisco-based company said in a tweet.
This is part of its efforts to clean up abusive content. Also, make the social media platform more user-friendly. The company launched a feature late last year. It allows users to hide certain responses on their tweets.
In a presentation at the annual CES tech conference, the company laid out plans. According to reports by several tech media, including The Verge and TechCrunch.
According to the presentation, users will be able to choose four different reaction settings. The settings include Global, which would allow anyone to respond. Community, which would allow replies from persons followed or listed by a user. Board, or persons mentioned in a tweet, and Claim, or no replies.
